2008 Run/Walk Saturday, May 10th, Central Park, NY

* Course Marshals are individuals placed on/near turns or course changes on the 4 Mile course and inform the runners and walkers which way to go.

* Split timers are individuals placed on the 4 Mile run/walk course and call out the times of the runners and walkers as they pass each mile marker.

°Refreshment stand attendants - Oversee the complimentary water and/or
fruit stands provided for all Miles For Moms participants.

°Baggage Claim Attendants - Collect and tend to participants belongings prior to the event and then provide participants with their belongings once they have completed the course.

** All Volunteers are responsible for assisting with set-up and clean up.
Volunteer assignments will be provided to Volunteers approximately one week prior to the event.

 


BECOME A VOLUNTEER PATIENT NAVIGATOR IN BROOKLYN OR MANHATTAN

HELP VISITING NURSE SERVICE OF NEW YORK REACH NEWLY DIAGNOSED CANCER PATIENTS!

Have you or someone you know experienced the extensive and painful challenges of cancer?  As you may know or imagine, in addition to the tremendous physical toll your body must endure, the emotional strength that is needed is often even more demanding and requires equal attention when confronting this illness.   Yet all too often, in the middle of the numerous medical appointments, financial considerations, and lifestyle altering requirements, this need can often go unmet.

Last year VNS began the Sema Heller Volunteer Patient Navigator Initiative.  The program focuses on providing cancer patients with beneficial, uplifting, and meaningful services that will address their diverse emotional needs.

In collaboration with the American Cancer Society (ACS), we are excited to introduce a volunteer assignment that will provide patients with an at-home wig fitting, as well as a free wig.  In addition, the patient will be introduced to the many other services provided through ACS so that they can easily and conveniently address their own unique and personal needs.
